Are you watching healthy people around you get ahead of you, wondering, how do they do it? How do they have the time – and the energy – to eat well, exercise, meditate, get good sleep, AND excel in their careers, or in their personal life? Can you really have it all?
It’s something clients come back to me with over and over… HOW can I possibly do ALL the right things?
As World Mental Health Day was a couple days ago, I’d like to share with you how I no longer succumb to overwhelm or burnout, so that you CAN take on the world and still feel great!
But you should know, my health 10 years ago made it impossible for me to even think of how to move past how I was feeling. The anxiety was clogging my mind, I was drained all of the time, and my body had me locked in a prison of bloating and discomfort. As a naturally ambitious woman, this was devastating to my confidence. It wasn’t long before I realized my mental health was suffering, alongside my physical health.
Overall, I was feeling burnt out, and it was taking a toll on everything. I didn’t have the energy to move forward in my career. And I hated my body for how unpredictably it would behave. But I was determined to put the pieces together because I knew in my heart that life was meant to be lived with joy, not stuck on medications.
For this World Mental Health Day, I want you to take a deep look at how you care for yourself. While we know the entire body is connected, it’s important to remember that your mental health is a part of that – how you’re feeling mentally and emotionally can affect how you feel physically, and vice versa.
There is a way to move onward and upward, so let me be your guide.
4 Steps To Beat Burnout
You used to have an incredible zest for life, but now it seems that you’re just going through the motions with task after task. Are you wondering how you, a previously unrelenting go-getter, got here?
I’m here to tell you that you can feel amazing again. By caring for your physical and mental health, you can break through burnout.
1. Prioritize Self-Care
No matter how busy things become, self-care has got to be a priority.
After all, you can’t pour from an empty cup. So when you’re feeling lethargic in your board meetings, think about the reason why.
- Are you giving your mind and body the rest they both need and deserve?
- Is your body feeling nourishment from the right foods?
- Are you getting the movement your body needs to function properly?
These questions are important. But what can really help is the DRESS for Health Success protocol. This is where we customize your diet, rest, exercise, stress reduction, and supplements. While you may think you’re giving your body everything it needs, a functional health approach determines what you may be missing.
You may think that how you’re feeling now is as good as life will ever get. But that doesn’t have to be the case.
Kick-off World Mental Health Day by making yourself a priority. Contact Well Works to learn how to Become The CEO Of Your Health. Together, we’ll take an in-depth into how your body works more than any doctor has done before.
2. You Must Make Changes To Address Your Chronic Symptoms
That feeling of being so sleepy throughout each day without energy is exhausting. I remember those days well. It truly affected my performance in my career, my relationships with family and friends, and my overall well-being.
How was I going to break glass ceilings if I could barely muster the energy to get through daily meetings?
What I didn’t realize at the time was that I was living with symptoms rather than digging for their root cause.
This wasn’t the life I was meant to live, and neither is the one that you are begrudgingly pulling yourself through every day. Burnout is not a way of life. It is a symptom of a person not living in true health.
At Well Works, we start our program by analyzing lab tests to get a clear picture of what is going on in your body. Then, we customize a plan forward to optimize your body’s functions. When you bring your mental and physical well together, you will feel better than you ever have in your life.
3. Understand How Your Burnout Is Connected To Your Body’s Health
The realization that the body is completely connected has been lost on some people, due to the pill for an ill reductionist approach of modern medicine! But it’s so important that you understand how the chief function of the body is to carry the brain around. This means your body needs to be working like a fine-tuned Formula 1 car to carry your brain, YOU, the Lewis Hamilton of the car.
You often hear that mental health is invisible. But this is simply untrue. Did you know that overgrowth of certain gut bugs or a lack of helpful bacteria are contributors to poor mental health? And these can be measured using a specific stool test that functional health practitioners use called the GI Map?
Did you know the integrity of your gut lining is an indicator of your brain function? Gut integrity is measured by the levels of zonulin, a protein which increases when the junctions of the gut become porous. High levels of zonulin are indicators of leaky gut, which is a contributor to low mood and lethargy.
There are so many other health markers – including hormonal health – which we can SEE and affect through nutrition and lifestyle.
Mental health is NOT invisible. There are HIDDEN stressors that impact your brain and your thoughts.
So when you see your doctor and they tell you all your blood work is normal – ask yourself:
- Why are you still feeling drained?
- Why is it so hard to think, to remember?
- And why is burnout preventing you from chasing your dreams?
- Is it time to look deeper with a functional medicine practitioner?
Ready to say, “no more,” to your symptoms and finally cure the root cause of your stress, fatigue, and burnout? Reach out to Well Works and say hello to the amazing life that’s waiting for you.
4. Discover Your HIDDEN Symptoms Through A Functional Health Approach
While traditional approaches to mental health may focus on talking therapy, it’s really the functional health approach that will put you on a direct path to recovery and healing.
By looking at your HIDDEN stressors, we will examine your hormones, immune system, digestion, detoxification, energy production, and nervous system. This approach gives you and me a clear picture of your body and determines the way ahead.
Despite how you are feeling, you’re still a woman full of ambition. Your schedule is packed with responsibilities and people are depending on you left and right.
No wonder it’s so hard to find time to care for yourself!
But this is exactly why Well Works is designed to work with women in your position. Because let’s be honest… Do you have the time (or energy) to restructure your entire life? With all you have going on, probably not.
